And with this morning’s news that Yahoo! and Bing took in a combined 20.36% of the market share last month, I say: Didn’t we think it was more like 28% last week? I have to say, I don’t expect a revolution from this search partnership when it comes to the end user. By now, I’m sure you know: (more…)

According to comScore, nearly 139 million U.S. Internet users watched a total of 11.5 billion online videos during any given month last year. However, the average YouTube video receives only 100 views a year. This makes optimizing video for YouTube one of the biggest opportunities in the fast-changing and complex world of search. How do traditional methods of searching for information compare to VSEO? In the year 2009, when my toilet is busted at 3 am, I don’t go to the yellow pages; I couldn’t even tell you if we own one and where it is. I go right to Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc. for a list of plumbers. It is at this precise moment that exposure is critical: 70% of searchers stick to listings on the first 3 pages of results. When do you go to page 105 of Google listings to find a business/service provider? Regarding information, looking at the listings returned in search results, they all appear the same, with a headline, URL, and description, akin to a regular listing in the yellow pages. Video in search is like having a full page display ad where you can provide much more information to potential customers.
