You want more traffic. You want more leads. You want more sales. What do you do?
With competition growing daily in the online marketplace, what successful strategies can you use to help boost your business? (Click on any category for more information.)
1. Optimize Your Site- Better known as search engine optimization, a simple step to start with is to examine the Meta information you provide for search engines: What title do you use? What description and keywords represent your page? Using relevant Meta information will increase your placement in organic search rankings. Also, analyze your website’s usability- how easy is it to navigate (once you get there?)
2. Create an Original Video- Online video is the fastest growing medium EVER! Take advantage by creating video content that shows the value of your business. It can be humorous, fact-filled, or appeal to the emotions- but it must be engaging. Try and spread these videos throughout different video hosting sites, and link back to your site through the video description.
3. Pay Per Click- If you can afford it, Google AdWords and similar programs can drive a lot of traffic to your site. Create a campaign and set a spending limit, and test your campaign often, making necessary adjustments. Managing your AdWords campaign can be time-consuming, but well worth it.
4. Submit to Directories- Internet marketers know that listings in directories give your site a better reputation. It is essential to try for a listing in the DMoz directory, and if you can afford it, the Yahoo! Directory is tops. Also search for directories related directly to your site’s topic. As searchers reach these directories, it’s better to be there than not.
5. Be a Social Networker- What’s all the internet buzz about? Twitter, Facebook, Digg… Create accounts. Find people that may be interested in your business and talk to them. There’s a world of opportunity out there and you don’t have to go to some cafeteria with stale coffee and store-bought danishes to meet people in your field.
6. Build Backlinks- Think… Where would you go if you were looking for your business? See if you can get a link to your site in those places. Obtaining links without paying or reciprocating can be difficult, but use your discretion- and only choose sites that are reputable and relevant to your topic. Search engines make associations by looking at your links. Who do you want to be associated with?
7. Scream for Help- Strategic internet marketing is difficult and time consuming. If you can afford it, your best bet is to get professionals. You can end up spending all your time online trying to manage accounts, promote and update. With a consultant or firm on your side, you can focus on growing your business while the professionals manage your storefront in the online marketplace.
Your online marketing strategy has to work for you- what elements and platforms work best for your business?
There are so many ways to help improve your online presence. Hopefully these internet marketing tips can help you build a plan for your business- and the most important tip to remember is: Don’t get discouraged! It will take time and perseverance to become a success in the online market- but well worth it in the end.
Good luck!
