2010 is finally here and with a brand new year, there must also be a brand new strategy within the supercharged and ever changing world of SEO. It helps to know the most useful tools and an awareness of any new rising star within the industry.
Here is a list of up and coming websites that every SEO should know or at least be aware of.
1. http://www.seomoz.org – SEOmoz has exploded in growth over the last year, most notably with the addition of Open Site Explorer. SEO Guru Rand Fishkin of seomoz.org is among the top search marketing field’s thought leaders, serving 30,000+ daily readers on the SEOmoz blog. Fishkin has appeared in Newsweek magazine and been quoted by USA Today, The Washington Post and many other publications. He is a popular speaker on SEO, blogging & web marketing at worldwide conferences.
2. http://www.linkdiagnosis.com – this website has come a long way in the last couple years, the link analysis tool on this site is actually quite accurate although the results are taken only from Yahoo. Link building can be very effective by using this site.
3. http://www.twitter.com – Twitter is a must now. Any new SEO can learn a lot from following some of the leaders in the industry on Twitter. Experienced SEOs can get a lot of good stories directed straight to your Twitter home with absolutely no work at all.
4. http://www.wolf-howl.com – A search blog with a different approach from many other industry leaders, not always lining up with Google tactics and methods.
5. http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com – The official Google webmasters blog, there’s always a lot of activity happening over at Google, it helps to keep on top of breaking developments.
6. http://www.huomah.com/dojo – This is a good website, recently voted as number 1 for the “best paid subscription SEM community” by readers at Top Rank Blog.
7. http://www.sphinn.com – Sphinn is the equivalent to Digg for anything search related, the community has exploded over the last few years and is easy to use.
8. http://www.seobook.com – SEO Book provides great resources for SEOs around the world, most notably, the tool “Rank Checker” for quick views into ranking performance.
9. http://raven-seo-tools.com – The Raven site provides great SEO tools in the form of benchmarking. Solid SEO blog.
10. http://www.seo-browser.com – It’s good to know how search engines view your website, using SEO Browser can display what’s working and what’s not, very useful for performing site audits.
11. http://www.youtube.com/user/GoogleWebmasterHelp – A lot of good SEO questions have been answered by Matt Cutts and his company through the video format on YouTube, very informative!
12. http://www.avivadirectory.com/strongest-directories – Link building from authority based directories does still hold SEO value – valuable, good bookmark to have.
13. http://www.google.com/insights/search – A Google link and extremely important for identifying keyword possibilities on generic and local based levels. Weigh with a pinch of salt the data provided.
14. http://searchengineland.com – one of the most important search blogs online with great insights and detailed discoveries!
15. http://www.hobo-web.co.uk/seo-blog – This website has increased dramatically in reputation over the last few years with much credit. Constantly providing good SEO blog posts, free e-books and valuable insights.

25. http://socialmention.com/ – Brands are becoming more important in organic search and from social networking, this website helps you monitor brands mentioned online through various channels, best thing about this site – it’s free, unlike most competitors.
